Poor atheists! They could believe in God, if ONLY He would be reasonable enough to conform to their requirements! (Sarcasm alert...)

This article is outstanding! One of my favorite passages is Romans 5:1-5 especially the part where perseverance leads to character which then leads to hope. This was my experience after years of struggling with losing my mother in a car accident 16 years ago when I was just 20 years old. I struggled with this problem of pain and turned it over in my head countless times. I probably never would have became a Christian if I had not wrestled with this and then finally after reading CS Lewis it clicked.

Thank you for this excellent article! This is a very common question and this is a very well written explanation as to why. I identify with what you said about suffering personally making you more compassionate, having cancer definitely made me a more compassionate and sympathetic person towards people going through physical problems, I think God used it in that way to help me.

I do also, however, want to address a belief that I see within the Church, of people believing that Jesus died in our place. I also used to believe that too, but with a lot of studying of scriptures, I believe he died on our behalf, but not in our place. Here is the link to a great article about that https://woodlandhillsnashville.com/topical/miscellaneous/isaiah-53-i-stood-condemned-to-die-but-jesus-took-my-place.html?fbclid=IwAR03AKBVLa9a9wQSmLWjbP-2tIuJC6hwuI9hYgxde_dywB7Uivm5ulDVGi0
