The practice of branding is alive today! There are those who have gotten branded instead of a tattoo! I don’t know if I can go so far as to say that this is a sin under the NT, without being hypocritical! However I know for myself I wouldn’t want to do it!
Scripture says that one must not make tattoos, not even because of the death of a loved one. If a tattoo is not permitted for the death of someone, then much less for any other reason, no matter how holy they may try to make it seem.
Moreover, the Torah, according to Matthew 5:17–21, is eternal; it restores the soul (Psalm 19:7). Due to a misunderstanding of the New Testament (and under the influence of Roman Catholicism), it has been believed that it was abolished (fulfilling the prophecy of Daniel 7:25). But it is eternal, perfect, and good, and there is no separation between moral law and ritual law; such a distinction is not Scriptural.
The law has been replaced with liberty in righteousness guided by the Holy Spirit. Though not one bit of the law has gone away, it is fulfilled through Christ so we no longer have the ceremony requirements to put off sin by blood. Jesus did that for us, to justify liberty as a get out of jail free card to do whatever we want so Grace may abound more?
Tattoos are 100% wrong and Galatians. Chapter 5 verse 19 through 21 specifically talking about deadly sins of the flesh, but if you read Leviticus.
It will tell you not to make cuts in your body and take marks of the ink. Also what Jesus was speaking with the pharisees and describes. He told them I am not here to change the laws of Moses but to fulfill them which has been spoken through the mouth of prophets. A lot of you on here are misleading people. You're gonna go straight to the hell, fire
[15] Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! [16] Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” [17] But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. [18] Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Ken Fish (podcast God is Not a Theory) warns about tattoos. in his deliverance ministry he has encountered people who bound spirits to themselves by getting them. Not good.
This was well brought out.
My sons have scripture tattoos. I saw the pain in their faces when they got them and decided I could do without tattoos.
It's certainly not for everyone!
Very fair assessment.

You're really wrong about this. Tattooing is an act of sorcery. The Hidden Citadel recently did an entire series on the history of tattoos. You can check one of their articles here: https://hiddencitadel4.wordpress.com/2024/11/20/christians-and-tattoos-a-quick-guide/
