Well, the Bible does say that a day would come when a loaf of bread would cost an arm and a leg (my paraphrase). Great article, Jameson.

This is a great reminder. There is tremendous fallacy in pointing to November 2020 gas prices in this manner.

That said, if one wanted to get closer to the truth and still make a point that the previous economy was better, one would need only to look at those prices pre-Covid — about $2.40/gallon (approximately) from January to March before the Covid restrictions started tanking (pun intended) gas prices.

Compare that with yesterday’s national average of $3.84/gallon, and I think it is still valid to say that the previous administration’s economy was far superior.

A difference of $1.44/gallon is still significant.

I would point to this administration’s tight restrictions on our nation’s oil and gas industry as the reason why.

Exactly - just go back BEFORE Covid and look at things then.

Also, something that must be considered is that because of all the "free money" that poured into our economy during Covid, inflation happened. Part of what President Biden has been dealing with is the consequences of the stimulus checks - which both parties are responsible for.

However, President Biden's current economic and energy policies are contributing factors as well.

Stimulus checks are a horrible idea actually. Problem is, when they were sent out, do you not accept them on principle? Or do you have no choice but to go ahead and accept them, knowing full well the inflation they will cause, but if you don't accept them, you'll be even more impacted by the inflation.

You are right. Both parties are creating the inflation monster. The average person I'm afraid doesn't understand that you can't just keep printing more money and expect prices to remain the same. More money in circulation automatically means higher prices. I wish more people would have a higher understanding of basic economics, and I wish our leaders would too.

Politics is a difficult game to play - sometimes there are no good solutions, the best choice you have is to try and make the choice that causes the least amount of problems.

The enemy is very cunning and deceitful. He always makes the lie seem truthful by twisting the truth. All of us would be deceived if it was not for the mercy of God. If God does not reveal the truth, we all fall for the lie.

Very true! Lies are nothing new from our enemy.

Some people rather believe the lie than the truth, Eve did.

Yes, Jesus refers back to that instance and calls the devil "a murderer from the beginning" and the "father of lies." (John 8:44)
