A couple of days ago, I did something to my back that caused quite a bit of pain.
As I write this, I look forward to seeing a doctor later in the day because I’m longing for some relief.
My thoughts turned toward something Jesus said about being a “physician.”
“Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” (Mark 2:17)
It is a good idea when you are sick or in pain to go to a doctor for help. However, it is even more critical to turn to the “Great Physician” for an even more significant problem - sin.
Jesus has the power, or the authority, to forgive sins (Mark 2:10; Acts 2:38).
Just as it would be foolish to refuse to see a doctor for sickness or pain, so it is foolish to reject the only “physician” who can help you with your sin problem.
