What would Christianity mean if Jesus was still dead and buried? Would there be any value at all in “the faith” if Jesus was not raised from the dead?
The New Testament addresses this, and the straightforward answer is: No.
But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. (1 Corinthians 15:13-19)
If Jesus Christ is not raised from the dead, then the entire system of faith is worthless and empty of all meaning.
If Jesus wasn’t raised from the dead, then you can discard everything the Bible says.
However, the claim that Jesus is raised from the dead is true - there were over 500 eyewitnesses who saw Jesus after being resurrected (1 Corinthians 15:6).
Because Jesus is raised from the dead, Christianity is not a dead religion - it is a living one. The founder of every other religion is either dead or will be dead one day.
Christianity is the only religion that has a living founder - that’s why the system of faith in Christ Jesus is different than any other religion.
Jesus Christ lives - how will we live knowing that fact?
