God created flowers on the third day of creation (Genesis 1:11-13).
God created many different kinds of flowers with many different colors. Flowers are grown and admired for their beauty in cultures worldwide.
Did you know that God’s care for flowers highlights his care for you? Jesus reminded us of this fact.
"So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” (Matthew 6:28-30)
Jesus’ point is that God cares for even the flowers that grow in the field. If God cares about the wildflowers, how much more does He care about you?
Our lives are also compared to the short life of the flowers.
"ALL FLESH IS AS GRASS, AND ALL THE GLORY OF MAN AS THE FLOWER OF THE GRASS. THE GRASS WITHERS, AND ITS FLOWER FALLS AWAY, BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.” (1 Peter 1:24-25)
Just as flowers bloom for a short time, our lives are also brief.
However, the word of God “lives and abides forever” (1 Peter 1:23). We are born again (John 3:3-5) through the incorruptible seed - the word of God. The implanted word of God “is able to save your souls” (James 1:21).
God cares for the flowers - but He loves you even more. He wants you to obey Him out of love (John 14:15) so that you can be saved (2 Peter 3:9).
The flowers show God’s power and God’s love for you and me. The next time you admire the beautiful flowers, remember:
God loves you.
God wants to save you.
Your life is short, so don’t delay in obeying the gospel of Christ (Acts 2:36-38).
