The Christian Life Should Be Full of Joy
Joy is based on an inner peace regardless of external events.
The fact that Jesus is eternal, came to this world to live among us, and has been raised from the dead is cause for complete joy among Christians (1 John 1:1-4).
Paul referred to the Christians in the city of Philippi as his “joy” (Philippians 4:1). He told them to resolve difficulties among themselves (Philippians 4:2-3) and then urged them to “rejoice.”
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! (Philippians 4:4)
Later, Paul “rejoiced in the Lord greatly” when the Philippians helped him while he was in prison (Philippians 4:10; 1:12-14).
He spoke of the “joy of faith” they needed (Philippians 1:25).
Biblical Christianity is supposed to be full of joy and rejoicing
This isn’t a surface-level happiness.
It refers to an inner peace that helps us face the trials of life with a positive, joyful outlook.
Jesus Christ lives - which means our life is full of meaning, and our faith isn’t in vain.
But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:20-22).
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:57-58)
No matter what life throws your way - the Lord Jesus Christ lives!
The Christian has hope because Jesus lives! Nothing should be able to take that hope from us.
Think about the hope you have in Jesus as you go through your day. Dwell upon the peace that comes from “walking in the light” and having fellowship with the Father, and forgiveness by the blood of Jesus (1 John 1:5-9).
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! (Philippians 4:4)
