The church has always had her needs.
Since the church is made up of human beings it will never be perfect on earth. The church (Kingdom) will one day be delivered to the Father (I Corinthians 15:24). Then it will be perfected (Revelation 21:27).
While on earth there are needs!
The Church Needs Bible Elders.
There is a need for Bible elders. Men who have met the qualifications found in (I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 15-9; I Peter 5:1-4).
It is God’s will that elders be ordained in every congregation:
“For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:” (Titus 1:5).
They are good men and lead good families. Young men should live their lives in a way that one day they can meet these qualifications.
The Church Needs Serving Deacons.
There is a need for serving deacons. Their qualifications are found in (I Timothy 3:8-13).
Deacons are special servants who tend to many of the physical and temporal needs of the church. They serve at the pleasure of the elders. They are good men and lead good families.
They are not elders, or even, junior elders. They are given special responsibilities and answer directly to the elders of the church.
The Church Needs Teachers and Preachers.
There is always a need for teachers/preachers. God sent Jesus as a teacher/preacher! Nicodemus recognized that Jesus was a “Teacher come from God” (John 3:2).
The religion of God’s dear Son is a taught religion.
“It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me” (John 6:44-45).
Jesus said, “And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.” (Mark 1:38).
Robby C. Eversole preaches for the Pennville Church of Christ in Summerville, Georgia. He is the father of a regular “guest poster” on Centered on Christ - Robby Eversole, Jr. I appreciate his stand for God’s word and his efforts in proclaiming the gospel!
Amen, the people need to be taught.
