Prayer is something that takes effort.
It can be challenging to pray as I should - you may have a similar problem. As I continue to grow in the faith, I have found myself praying more often. Relying upon prayer is something I have to continue to remind myself to do.
Paul wrote about a Christian who spent so much effort in prayer he was said to be fighting or struggling.
Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. (Colossians 4:12)
Epaphras worked hard in prayer for the church in Colosse. He cared deeply that they would stand fully in the “all the will of God.”
He wanted his brothers and sisters in Christ to be everything God wanted them to be.
Do we care enough about our brothers and sister in Christ that our prayers for them could be described as “working hard?”
When we think of fellow Christians who need to make changes in their life - do we pour out prayers for them before the throne of God?
Epaphras cared for the Lord’s church and desired they all do what was right.
What about us? How much do we care about the Lord’s church - our brothers and sisters in Christ?
