Have you ever wondered how God calls people to be saved today?
Is it by a feeling or experience?
The apostle Paul writes to the church in Thessalonica and mentions how God calls people to be saved.
How God Calls People Today
But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Thessolonians 2:13-14)
The gospel Paul proclaimed was the same gospel taught by the other apostles - the gospel of Jesus Christ.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (Romans 1:16)
How People Respond to God’s Call
God’s Word is what calls people today to be saved - and everyone chooses how they will respond to the proclamation of God’s Word.
And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, "We will hear you again on this matter." So Paul departed from among them. However, some men joined him and believed, among them Dionysius the Areopagite, a woman named Damaris, and others with them. (Acts 17:32-34)
These people heard the gospel of Jesus Christ - and responded differently. Some openly mocked the message. Some were interested enough to want to hear more. Some believed and obeyed the call of God through the gospel.
How have you responded to the call of God?
What will you do with the call of God through His Word? What will you do with the gospel of Jesus Christ?
Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."Â
And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation."Â
Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. (Acts 2:38-41)
The choice is yours.
