This article will be short because I’m tired.
I’m glad I got to go to Polishing the Pulpit and help work behind the scenes. We were busy - most days started around 7:00 AM and ended around 9:00 PM. But that’s what was needed to record all the sermons and classes taught during the week.
So it was a good, busy week - and I’m very glad to be home.
There’s a line from a song titled “Let Her Go” by Passenger that I always think of when I’m ready to go home after being away for a few days.
“Only hate the road when you're missing home”
The trip is always fun at first - it’s a new adventure. But after awhile, your thoughts turn toward home, and you’re ready for the trip to be over.
The Hebrews writer reminds us of those whose thoughts turned toward their heavenly home.
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. (Hebrews 11:13-16)
I’m so glad to be home. And I’m glad for the heavenly home that awaits us as Christians when we reach the end of our journey on this earth.
