Even the Sky Glorifies God
What about you?
Did you know that even the sky declares God’s glory?
The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. (Psalm 19:1)
Both the daytime and nighttime skies speak to the glory of God (Psalm 19:2). Every nation and language of people can “hear” the cry of the sky glorifying God (Psalm 19:3).
As much as the sky glorifies God, the Word of God teaches us even more about His ways, glory, and power.
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. (Psalm 19:7-9)
By the sweet and precious Word of God (Psalm 19:10), we are given warnings and great promises (Psalm 19:11).
When we realize the glory and holiness of God, we should be concerned about our sins. We should want to be cleansed of sin to stand in the presence of the Almighty Lord of heaven and earth.
Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:12-14)
Our souls are purified in obeying the truth through the Spirit (1 Peter 1:22). When we are baptized into Christ (Romans 6:3-4) are sins are washed away by His blood (Acts 22:16).
As His people, we should praise and glorify the One who has brought us out of darkness and into the light.
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. (1 Peter 2:9-10)
