When at last we rest in the city of pure gold, like clear glass
Will we think upon the momentary joys of our life that is past?
For, what great joys we share in our in earthly time under His care
Every moment given should surely not be without thanksgiving, though we long for the evermore
For every mother and father who gazes upon a new child living, shedding tears of joy
Till at last with bittersweet tears a parent watches them start a life of their own, walking out the door
Every friendship made, and every smile exchanged, will we look back with thankful joy?
And tears that are shed as at last, friend or father are put to bed,
laid to rest, ready to embrace the forever more
But one thing's for sure, though life is a bittersweet song that’s given
We will be glad we ran the race of faith as we enter the evermore
When we eat of the fruit of the tree life ever giving
And bask in the glory of God’s throne and pure river of water of life beyond the shore
Then we will share together at last in glory and will be Everlast
To be with God and the lamb and the eternity that we grasp as God reveals
all that’s in store
Oh, to enter the gates eternal and beauty of the evermore
Inspiration: Revelation 21-22
Chris Long preaches for the Smithville Church of Christ in Smithville, Mississippi. I’ve gotten to know Chris a little because of our mutual connection to the Smithville church.
He did an excellent job with this poem taken from Revelation 21-22 and causes us to think about the beauties of heaven.
Amen!!!!!!
Very good.
