Do You Think About the Impact Your Life Has on Others?
You can glorify God regardless of your situation.
It can be easy to live life with blinders on - never realizing the impact our decisions have on the people around us.
The decisions you make and the attitude you have on the job impact the people around you.
Teachers impact their students and fellow teachers for better or worse based upon their attitude and decisions.
Parents will impact the development of their children by the attitude they have and the decisions they make.
Life is not lived in a vacuum that we have complete control over. Life is often messy, and we are sometimes placed in uncomfortable situations. While we might sometimes wish to make choices and not impact anyone else - life doesn’t work that way.
When we find ourselves in uncomfortable or difficult situations, do we see it as an opportunity to glorify God? Jesus taught us to see life in this way.
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:11-16)
In context, it is precisely when life is not going as we would like that we have a golden opportunity to point others toward the Father by letting our light shine.
Are you letting your light shine through your good works during challenging times?
