A Mother's Hands, Sunday Observation, and a Five Minute Video
Promoting good material by other Christians.
On Mondays, I plan to start promoting other people’s writing and videos.
Not only is it helpful to me by saving me time, but it also helps to promote good work that is being done by other Christians.
So today I’m sharing a couple of articles and one short video with you. I hope you find them as encouraging as I did!
My Mother’s Hands by Steve Higginbotham
I read an article by Steve Higginbotham about his mother’s hands. He writes about all his mother’s hands had done for him and his sister throughout their lives. Many of you have precious memories of your mother.
I invite you to take a few moments and read Steve’s post about his mother.
A Sunday Morning Observation by Hugh Fulford
A SUNDAY MORNING OBSERVATION: It is axiomatic that from nothing comes nothing. But, something is, therefore something eternally was (has always been)! What “is” consists of both mind (intelligence) and matter. And so I ask, “Was the ‘something’ that has always been and that brought forth both mind (intelligence) and matter just matter itself?” Did mere matter produce both mind (intelligence) and other matter? Or, did a vast and supreme mind (intelligence) produce other intelligence and matter?
The Bible begins by saying, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). The Bible further says, “Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting You are God” (i.e., have always been) (Psalm 90:2). Still further, the Bible declares, “God, who made the world and everything in it, seeing He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped (served) with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, seeing He gives to all life, breath, and all things” (Acts 17:24-25). The Bible states, “For every house is built by someone (i.e., no house just spontaneously came into existence, hf), but He who built all things is God” (Hebrews 3:4). He is the Supreme Mind (Intelligence) and Divine Power who created all things—both mind and matter!
I love the game of football, but my mind this morning is not on football. My team lost yesterday. They got beat by a superior team. They got outplayed in every phase of the game. But the game is over! My mind this morning is on God. In a few hours, I will gather with other saints of God to worship Him in spirit and truth (John 4:24). My mind will be on the songs we sing and the message they convey, the prayers and their meaning, the Lord’s Supper and its significance, the word of God and what it is telling me, the financial contribution I will make and what it will be used for. If the service goes a little “over time” that will be alright. I am on holy ground! I rejoice to be there! This is the Lord’s day, not my day! I hope you will join me in the assembly of true worshipers wherever you live. We serve the eternal and awesome God! “In Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).
Longtime gospel preacher Hugh Fulford shared these thoughts on his Facebook page, and I wanted to share his thoughts with you.
A Five-Minute Video
Cliff Goodwin presents what God’s Word teaches about being accepted by God and rejected by the world. As Christians, it’s important we consider this point.
